Skills of Life Cafe needs volunteers to help staff our very special hands-on classroom where local teens and young adults with mild intellectual disabilities participate in a community based vocational training program. We offer a 90 day job training internship program that places training emphasis on the skills of safe handling and use of appliances to make hot and cold beverages, light serving, bussing, and customer interface skills. In addition we will be offering training and support to the "hidden skills" that are known as the soft skills of behavior awareness, time management, organizational skills, working as a team, and how to flow with task rate of speed given the changing of customer flow. Volunteers provide support and guidance for our interns.

Commitment is 5 to 15 hours a week. Experience in a cafe is a big plus.
