The Senior Manager of Cyber Security Operations will lead the transformation and daily execution of security operations across the enterprise. This role is responsible for improving the integrity, effectiveness, and maturity of all security controls and processes and report directly to the CISO. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, process understanding, vision, and operational discipline to elevate the organization's cyber defense capabilities. A key responsibility includes managing the relationship with a well-qualified Managed Security Provider (MSP) to ensure seamless, high-quality service delivery.
Responsibilities
Security Operations Leadership
- Oversee the Security Operations Center (SOC), including all phases of incident response (PICERL). This includes process creation, measurement, execution, and improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement not only in the Security Operations team, but throughout all adjacent areas such as security engineering, network operations, and governance, risk and compliance.
- Lead the implementation of advanced logging, correlation, and automation technologies.
- Act as the primary incident response leader, including ownership of the IR plan, tabletops, and managing any cyber security incidents.
- Work to create a trusted connection to HireRight employees
- Exercise significant judgment on the identification, control and response to risks to HireRight.
- Serve as the primary oversight and liaison for the MSP, helping to define and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs), escalation protocols, and performance metrics are met.
- Conduct regular reviews and assessments of MSP capabilities and alignment with organizational goals.
- Prepare, propose, and manage changes to the MSP relationship to better suit HireRight's needs
- Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of existing security controls integration to security operations including DLP, IAM, SIEM, SOAR, and endpoint protection. Provide meaningful feedback to adjacent teams such as Security Engineering for process and control improvement.
- Develop and enforce standardized processes for incident response, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management.
- Ensure security operations alignment with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with GRC teams to support audits, risk assessments, and compliance reporting.
- Build and mentor a high-performing security operations team.

- 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated progression of responsibility in the security operations domain is preferred.
- Strong understanding of security technologies: SIEM, SOAR, EDR, DLP, IAM, and cloud security.
- Proven experience managing third-party security vendors or MSPs.
