Education/Certification:
- Required:
- Master's Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
- Preferred:
- Degree in Reading preferred
- CALT or Master Reading Teacher preferred
- Successfully complete training in the district's dyslexia program
- Master's Degree in Reading or other field of education
- Special Education Certification (must become certified within 1 year of hire date)
- Knowledge of federal, state, local and district laws, policies and procedures related to Dyslexia, Section 504 and RTI
- Knowledge of the Multi-Sensory Teaching Approach
- Knowledge of accommodations for differences in learning styles
- Demonstrated knowledge of reading strategies and differentiated instruction
- Demonstrated knowledge of dyslexia and dyslexia procedures
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Experience developing and facilitating Professional Development to a variety of audiences
- Applied use of computer operations
- Applied use of software productivity tools (i.e., Microsoft Office)
- Applied use of e-mail
- Applied use of printers
- Applied use of job-related financial and student management systems
- Applied use of multimedia tools
- Applied use of electronic file management
- Applied use of Technology Applications TEKS CC/SD Acceptable Use Policy and Technology Ethics/Etiquette
- Required: Three (3) years successful teaching with experience in the area of dyslexia, reading or special education
The primary function of this position is to be a collaborative leader and apply knowledge of federal, state, and district procedures concerning dyslexia for special education. Provide training to teachers in English/LanguageArts and Reading instruction as well as MTSS at all TIERED levels. Provide recommendations for instructional accommodations and needed interventions. As Trainer of Trainers for the district's dyslexia program, train all PDI's to state compliance to deliver dyslexia instruction, in addition monitoring dyslexia instruction on campus, and provide annual/regular trainings.

Responsibilities:
- Assists in resolving and/or completing, and correcting records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation for dyslexia
- Assists district in meeting Dyslexia requirements
- Successfully complete training in the district's dyslexia program
- Monitors the progress of the students in the District's dyslexia intervention program on a regular basis using and provide data analysis reports to supervisors
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
- Provide coaching and mentoring to PDI's to increase skills and improve student outcomes
- Works to establish and maintain open line of communication providers of Dyslexia Instruction (PDI)
- Serve as a resource of best practice to PDI's
- Create system to train all classroom teachers in state mandated areas of dyslexia
- Provides leadership to campuses to ensure accommodations are appropriately provided in the classroom and on state-mandated tests
- Collaborate with the ARD/IEP multidisciplinary team when appropriate to determine eligibility
- Consult on FIE's as requested by a member of the special education team
- Communicates with the supervisor on the need for staff development for instruction
- Ensure organizational flow is maintained with changes to policies, procedures, and best practices
- Maintain effective communication with all internal and external stakeholders including campus staff, families, co-workers, and leadership
- Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of District business
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or District employees
- Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Frequent District-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged hours
- Frequent moving, standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, moving small stacks, moving classroom or adaptive equipment
- Frequent light lifting and occasional heavy lifting
- Interpret policy, procedures and data;
- Coordinate district functions and maintain emotional control under stress
- Above average degree of concentration, communication, interpretation, analyzing, differentiating, reading, coordinating, compiling, computing, instructing, and organization
