Job Title: Independent Living Social Service Advocate

Status: Full Time Days

Schedule: 8 am - 4 pm

Salary Range: Starting at $28 per hour

What will I do in this role with Garden Spot?

As an Independent Living Social Service Advocate, supporting the Garden Spot Communities' mission will include the following responsibilities:
  • Complies with established policies and procedures and maintains established standards and practices including the Compliance Program/Code of Conduct.
  • Treats all information about residents, their condition and family as confidential information.
  • Serves in a problem-solving capacity, as an advocate for residents. Provides accurate assessments and intervene with effective treatment plans that empowers residents' coping skills.
  • Maintains a written record of the frequency and nature of any qualified social work consultations and services provided or obtained.
  • Assists the Marketing Department with pre-entrance level of care/independence assessments as needed.
  • Orients new residents to Garden Spot Village services and assists in their adjustment to the routines and schedules. Assists Life Enrichment with Village Life Orientation.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with the Social Service Departments of local hospitals, physician's groups and other retirement communities.
What do I need for this role with Garden Spot?
  • College graduate with a minimum of a BA from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Experience with geriatrics is preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of social service programs available to the elderly is a benefit to have and/or willingness to be trained in specific programs utilized in the department.
  • Ability and desire to work with the elderly; ability to build relationships.
