Job Title: Lead Electrical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to manage the scope, budget, and schedule for electrical disciplines on various projects. This role involves client interactions and executing change management. You will provide third-party engineering oversight and management for electrical teams responsible for developing or integrating electrical designs as we build our internal team. You will execute the electrical technical design on projects and may serve as the engineer of record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform or review routine and complex engineering, design, analysis, and technical tasks within the electrical discipline using current technology, standards, and calculation software.

  • Prepare and review load lists, power system studies, single lines, equipment layouts, area classifications, sizing calculations, schematics, equipment specifications, data sheets, requisitions, and technical bid analysis.

  • Collaborate with the integrated EPC team and clients to execute RFIs, deliverable reviews, change order requests, and engineering equipment buyout.

  • Regularly review vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.

  • Foster high-performing teams and behaviors to execute projects efficiently.

  • Mentor and develop team members, providing technical guidance regarding projects and disciplines.

  • Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction, work quality, and operating efficiencies.

  • Develop, review, and implement guidelines and procedures to ensure engineering standardization.

  • Stay updated with the latest technology and industry practices, finding practical applications.

  • Lead quality checks of design and engineering projects to ensure accuracy and credibility.

Essential Skills

  • Electrical engineering expertise, including design and registered professional engineering in power electrical or I&C.

  • Strong foundation in power system principles evidenced by relevant college coursework.

  • Knowledge of Aconex Document Controls software.

  • Understanding of construction and constructability practices and principles.

  • Working knowledge of procurement, contract administration, project controls, and estimating processes.

  • Basic business and financial acumen.

  • Background in owner or client engineering, power generation, ANSI, IEEE, API, NEC, and fossil fuels.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.

  • Six years of related work experience in fossil fuels, power, or generation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively multi-task and manage numerous projects within aggressive schedules.

  • Experience with creating grounding, area class, power, single line, schematic, and motor control drawings.

  • Knowledgeable of ANSI, IEEE, API, NEC, and other industry codes.

  • Ability to perform engineering calculations such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, harmonics, and more.

  • Familiarity with specifying high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment.

  • Technical proficiency in relay coordination and Arc Flash analysis.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Leawood, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
