Accounts Payable Accountant

Duration: 5+ months
**Monday to Friday 8 hours a day, 40hour week, open start time 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM with the latest end time 5:00 PM, times are somewhat flexible**
Job Description:
Analyzes financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, or other financial activities within our organization.
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- dvises the supervisor of the status of all accounts;
- ssists management in the preparation of agency or program area budget requests;
- Develops and recommends implementation of new accounting methods and procedures pertaining to the incumbents area of responsibility;
- dvises program staff on accounting matters relating to specific program funding;
- ssists in the development and maintenance of general policies for a fiscal program;
- Coordinates use of the computerized accounting system for the program area;
- Certifies the accuracy of financial records and accounts;
- nalyzes and interprets financial statements and reports;
- Controls the flow of appropriated funds;
- Reconciles complex discrepancies between accounts;
- Interacts with, and responds to, state and federal audit representatives;
- Makes necessary adjustments to close books;
- Mail room back up
- Prior experience in an accounting role.
- Prior experience analyzing and preparing financial reports.
- Prior experience developing and maintaining fiscal policies.
- High School Diplom
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, and Excel
- Efficient and accurate data entry experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer Service experience.
- Prior experience communicating with state and federal audit representatives. (nice to have)
- Prior experience using PeopleSoft Financials. (nice to have)
- Prior experience working with State, County or Federal Budgets. (nice to have)
- ssociate's degree or higher in accounting.
