1. Role Overview

Join Mercor as an Investment Banking and Private Equity Expert. We are seeking talented finance professionals for a collaborative research project with a leading foundational AI lab. This opportunity is ideal for those with real deal execution experience who excel in creating financial models from scratch and can leverage deep capital markets knowledge for structured AI training tasks.

This role is a fully asynchronous, part-time contract, allowing you to work on your own terms and deliver exceptionally realistic financial products that mirror real-world execution.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop financial models from scratch that replicate actual on-desk processes
  • Assess, enhance, or structure financial data and modeling outputs for AI research
  • Identify key assumptions, drivers, sensitivities, and valuation logic
  • Produce high-quality written outputs demonstrating your domain expertise
  • Work independently while following structured task formats and timelines

3. Ideal Qualifications

  • 2+ years of full-time experience at a leading investment bank or private equity firm
  • Proven hands-on deal execution experience (academic experience does not qualify)
  • Ability to deliver real modeling work with precision and thoroughness
  • Excellent communication, analytical reasoning, and financial modeling skills
  • Keen attention to detail and capacity to work autonomously

4. More About the Opportunity

  • Fully remote and asynchronous - work according to your existing schedule
  • Expected time commitment: 20+ hours per week
  • Contract duration: through the end of January, with potential for extension
  • Strong performance may lead to eligibility for future high-paying projects with Mercor

5. Vetting & Qualification Process

  • Behavioral interview (~10 minutes) to discuss your prior deal work
  • Technical assessment to evaluate financial expertise and modeling skills

6. Compensation & Contract

  • $150 per hour
  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Payments made via Stripe Connect
