Tax Director, Transformation

Meta's Tax Team is seeking an experienced and strategic director to lead transformation initiatives across our tax function. This position will work closely with our Modern Finance team as well as with other finance and tax teams to help shape and execute the vision for tax processes, technology, and compliance. Collectively, the role will ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements globally.

Responsibilities

Transformation Strategy & Leadership: drive the global indirect tax transformation strategy and modernization of processes and technology in partnership with Tax and cross-functional teams.

• Leverage their subject matter expertise and partner with subject matter experts in all jurisdictions where the company operates.

• Advise leadership on indirect tax compliance matters and scalable solutions.

• Process & Technology Transformation: lead the design and implementation of scalable, automated indirect tax processes leveraging best-in-class technology solutions.

• Partner with IT, Finance, and external vendors to evaluate, select, and deploy tax technology platforms (e.g., ERP, tax engines, data analytics).

• Work closely with the Tax Team to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control.

• Compliance & Risk Management: support robust capabilities for global indirect tax compliance, including VAT, GST, sales & use tax, DST, and other transaction-based taxes.

• Ensure robust controls and documentation are in place to support audit readiness and regulatory requirements in close partnership with the Tax Team.

• Support changes in global tax legislation and assess impact on business operations.

• Stakeholder Engagement, Partnership & Change Management: partner closely within the Tax Team, Finance, and across the broader business to ensure alignment and successful execution of transformation initiatives.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tax, Finance, Legal, Operations, IT) to drive process improvements and technology adoption.

• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate effective communication, training, and change management.

• Lead and partner on change management efforts, including training, communication, and stakeholder buy-in.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven track record of leading transformation projects involving process redesign and technology implementation

• Demonstrated understanding of global indirect tax requirements, compliance, and risk management

• Experience with tax technology platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Vertex, Avalara) and data analytics tools

• Demonstrated strategic thinking with a global mindset

• Experience as a change agent driving innovation and continuous improvement

• Experience influencing and collaborating across all levels of the organization

• Demonstrated high level of integrity and professionalism

• Demonstrated project management, leadership, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field

• Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CA, CTA)

• 12+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax, with significant exposure to global tax environments
