Loss Control Inspector Trainee

The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company is excited to invite applications for the role of Loss Control Inspector Trainee Join our dynamic Engineering Team and play a crucial role in risk management through performing inspections in various settings, including commercial, industrial, and non-manufacturing locations.
Your main responsibilities will involve conducting inspections with low to medium complexity, focusing on jurisdictional certification, loss prevention, risk assessment, OnSights, and claims investigations. You may also be involved in fee service engineering inspections.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with boilers, UPV, industrial, mechanical, and electrical equipment; an Engineering degree (BSME, BSEE, or BSChE) can be a substitute for practical experience.
- National Board Commission required.
- Successful completion of company-required training is essential.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with adaptability.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in computer technology, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be capable of performing the following physical tasks:
- Access tight spaces by crawling through 11" X 15" openings.
- Climb vertical ladders and multiple stories of stairs.
- Function at heights of at least 30 feet and work up to ten stories high.
- Perform bending, stretching, and twisting motions.
- Handle temperature variations of up to 70 degrees.
- Walk 3-5 miles and stand for extended periods.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs and the ability to maneuver safety equipment.
- Visual acuity of 20/20 (natural or corrected) and color identification.
- Ability to hear equipment operation sounds (corrected).
