Additional Information:

Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is Wisconsin’s largest hospital, recognized nationally for its inventive patient care, offering specialties across a compassionate healthcare journey.
Schedule/Hours: Full-time evening shift, with 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday including call duties most nights and a few weekends in an 8-week cycle. Call responsibilities require being available within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care by using aseptic techniques and preparing the surgical area.
- Maintain knowledge of various surgical procedures and equipment.
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up necessary equipment and ensuring regulatory compliance after procedures.
- Assist as a Second Assistant during surgeries when required.
- Alert staff to equipment or supply issues as they arise.
- Safely transport patients and equipment.
- Maintain and ensure accessibility of specialty carts.
- Demonstrate competency in age-appropriate care and recognizes patient-specific needs.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory within 6 months unless exempted.
Education Required:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Experience Required:
- No prior experience is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Understanding of aseptic techniques for surgical environments.
- Familiarity with operating room equipment.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Commitment to maintaining annual educational requirements for hospital certifications.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Lift up to 50 lbs., carry up to 40 lbs., and perform patient transport duties with proper technique.
- Work with various operating room equipment and maintain safety protocols.
