We are seeking a flexible, motivated, and detail-oriented Area Specialist to support clinical and administrative operations across multiple practice locations in the northern Chicago region. This is a dynamic, role that requires cross-training as a Medical Assistant (MA) and Patient Services Representative (PSR). You will provide direct patient care, administrative support, and serve as a key team member during new physician onboarding and practice integrations.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work, is passionate about patient care, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support a geographically dispersed team across several practice sites.
- Travel regularly to assigned locations as needed.
- Deliver go-live integration support for new physicians and practice locations.
- Assist with onboarding and on-site training of new and existing staff.
- Support process improvements, protocol implementation, and daily operations.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, ethical conduct, and a patient-first mindset.
- Interview patients to obtain medical history and update records.
- Record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, pulse).
- Prepare exam rooms and assist during patient visits.
- Sterilize medical instruments and manage clinical inventory.
- Perform basic x-rays as appropriate.
- Complete additional administrative and clinical tasks as required.
- Greet and check in patients in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Assist patients with questions or concerns during their visit.
- Collect insurance information, co-pays, and address open balances.
- Ensure a smooth and efficient front-desk workflow and patient experience.
- Support scheduling, communication, and overall office operations.
- Participate in team meetings and calls as needed.
- Maintain effective, collaborative relationships with peers, providers, and leadership.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of processes and patient satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Continuing education preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant certificate preferred
- Excellent organization abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Creative and persistent problem solver
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Client/service oriented (internal and external)
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to complete projects independently within established timeframes
- Advanced understanding/knowledge of computer data entry, Microsoft Excel and ability to navigate through any business-related software
- Proficient typing skills
TRAVEL: Local travel is required to locations within your assigned geographic region. This role will be assigned to cover a regional area however you may be required to occasionally travel outside of your assigned area. The Area Operations Specialist must have reliable transportation and be able to travel site to site, as assigned. This role is eligible for mileage reimbursement as well.
