  • During initial license training, total compensation earnings eligibility ranges from $159,000.00 to $182,000.00 per year (based on experience and past license status) including a 15% annual incentive bonus, an initial sign-on bonus, a $10,000 bonus distributed through training milestones, and a comprehensive benefits package with a 401(k) matching contribution.
  • Upon obtaining the SRO license, total compensation earnings eligibility starts at $191,000.00 per year, featuring a target 15% annual bonus, License Premium, as well as additional pay at 1.5 times the base salary for extended hours due to mandatory operation shift coverage.

Relocation Assistance: Relocation assistance may be offered to candidates meeting the conditions in the company’s policy.

Constellation is searching for Initial License Trainees (ILT) to pursue a licensed Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) role supporting our Nine Mile Point Generating Station in Oswego, NY.

The primary goal of this role is to train and prepare to fulfill the responsibilities of an Operations Shift Supervisor holding a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License. After completing the training, the candidate will obtain full licensing from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to oversee the licensed activities of reactor operators in the control room. The candidate will also be trained to directly supervise reactor operators and equipment operators.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in Initial License Training (ILT) that includes classroom instruction, examinations, hands-on training, and evaluations.
  • Successfully complete all phases of training to achieve an SRO license, enabling performance of Operations Shift Supervisor duties.
  • Execute additional job assignments and responsibilities directed by management, including emergency response, departmental coverage, call-outs, and support for outage activities in other positions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Meet or exceed one of the following criteria:
    • 1 year of Reactor Operator license at a comparable facility or 1.5 years at a non-comparable facility (PWR to PWR or BWR to BWR for comparable; PWR to BWR or BWR to PWR for non-comparable).
    • 1.5 years or more in a position equivalent to Reactor Operator (or Supervisor) at a military reactor (e.g., Power Plant Watch Engineer, Engineering Watch Supervisor) with 1.5 years after qualification.
    • A degree from a 4-year program or equivalent in engineering, engineering technology, or physical sciences, or a professional engineer license, with over 1.5 years as a qualified non-licensed operator or in leadership positions in relevant fields, or accredited training at a comparable facility. Managerial experience at non-comparable plants may be credited on a 1.5:1.0 basis (i.e., requiring over 2.25 years for non-comparable facility) and 3 years required for those with non-traditional degrees.
  • Maintain minimum access or unescorted access requirements and pass a favorable medical examination and/or testing specific to role responsibilities.
