Description Summary
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at W. O. Grubb, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our diverse range of equipment to the highest standards while ensuring cost-effectiveness and outstanding customer service. This role typically involves working under supervision, with the possibility of extended hours and exposure to varying temperatures. Weekend and holiday work may be required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems (including troubleshooting onboard computers), brakes, and other components.
- Complete and submit service reports accurately to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Perform and document routine maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
- Identify and complete repairs efficiently, ensuring comprehensive documentation is maintained.
- Timely submission of all required reports and forms.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- Ability to work on hydraulic and conventional cranes, forklifts, tractor trailers, and additional equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with operators and other mechanics.
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass drug tests, background checks, and fit-for-duty assessments.
Desired:
- At least 3 years of experience in crane maintenance with demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
- Crane operation experience (CCO certification is a plus).
- Adept at working safely in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
- Experience with notable brands like Grove, Demag, Link-Belt, and Liebherr cranes.
- Knowledge of diesel, gasoline, and propane engines.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Creative problem-solving skills for continuous improvement.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with technical expertise.
- Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment
The role may require appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Employees could occasionally face extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. The work environment has moderate noise levels.
