Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 2-2-3 rotating schedule (work every other weekend)
Position Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor leads a team of maintenance technicians to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production and facility equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position combines technical expertise, planning, and people leadership to support production goals and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians, assigning daily work and monitoring results.
- Provide coaching, training, and feedback to maintain high standards of safety and technical performance.
- Foster a team culture built on collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Create and maintain development plans for team members.
- Oversee skill-based training programs to enhance technical capabilities.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to promote engagement and career growth.
- Set clear expectations for performance, safety, and quality standards.
- Develop onboarding programs for new maintenance employees.
- Assign mentors and ensure effective knowledge transfer and cultural integration.
- Track progress and refine training as needed.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Planner or Scheduler to complete preventive and corrective maintenance on schedule.
- Prioritize maintenance work based on equipment criticality, safety, and production demands.
- Lead daily meetings to communicate goals, updates, and priorities.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance during equipment failures or complex repairs.
- Enforce all company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and regulatory standards.
- Conduct safety audits and participate in incident investigations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment histories.
- Submit reports and updates promptly and professionally.
- Communicate proactively about any schedule changes or resource needs.
- Partner with production and engineering to identify process and equipment improvements.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to eliminate recurring issues.
- Serve as the liaison between maintenance and production teams.
- Provide timely updates on equipment status and maintenance activities.
- Ensure accurate and consistent documentation of shift updates and team performance.
- Audit completed maintenance work for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure CMMS data entries are detailed and accurate.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve overall work quality and reliability.
- Model professionalism, teamwork, and initiative in all interactions.
- Approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset.
- Contribute to a respectful and productive work environment.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with CMMS or other maintenance management tools.
- Proven leadership and coaching abilities in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience in high-speed or automated production environments preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Positive, flexible attitude with a focus on teamwork and results.
- Adhere to all company safety rules and regulations.
- Required PPE includes safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas.
- Standing and walking for extended periods on concrete floors.
- Lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally and up to 40 lbs frequently.
- Regular bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching to access equipment.
- Ability to work at heights up to 15 feet using ladders or platforms.
- Primarily indoor manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to temperature changes, noise, dust, and odors.
- Frequent interaction with machinery and tools in a high-energy production setting.
