Role Summary:
Based in Chattanooga, TN in the Anode Materials Division, the Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Control Manager. The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with certifications, customer requirements, and established quality standards. This role works cross-functionally with all departments to identify quality issues, support production, and ensure that processes consistently meet established quality standards.
Responsibilities include:
• Lead or participate in root cause investigation of internal and external quality issues, determine appropriate corrective/preventative action, and ensure actions are effective
• Ensure control of nonconforming material and coordinate review of nonconforming material
• Analyze quality data, generate quality reporting metrics, charts, and supporting documentation, and identify areas for improvement
• Lead and/or Support APQP/PPAP Elements:
o Generate and/or modify Control Plans
o Lead and/or Assist with DFMEAs and PFMEAs
o Conduct Process Capability Analysis
o Prepare PPAP Packages
• Lead or support quality processes such as change control, internal and certification audits, and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Lead or assist with development of Quality Management System (QMS) elements, polices, and procedures
• Analyze customer requirements, define necessary actions, communicate them across the organization, and audit to ensure proper implementation
• Interact with a wide variety of stakeholders, including other teams, customers, and vendors to solve complex and/or urgent problems
You are:
• An experienced quality engineer with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a quality related role in a manufacturing environment with processes certified to ISO 9001
• A professional with a bachelors degree, preferably in science or engineering
• Passionate about solving problems and improving quality
• Experienced with quality IT systems (LIMS, SPC, MES, etc.)
• Focused on collaboration, communication, and willingness to help
• Experienced using the 8D or similar problem solving method
• Comfortable with ambiguity and changing environments
• Able to understand applicable quality standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.) and the controls necessary to achieve and maintain compliance with the standards
• Detail-oriented, have a bias for action, and possess a high level of integrity
Extra awesome if you also have:
• Carbon, graphite, or bulk product manufacturing experience
• IATF 16949 Certification experience
• Previous facility startup experience
• Experience with sampling plan development and modification
