Description
  • Conduct assessments for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics through a mix of standardized assessments and observational methods.
  • Craft individualized treatment strategies that address both immediate goals and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing challenges.
  • Deliver personalized speech therapy sessions aimed at enhancing communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing capabilities.
  • Work in synergy with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to design comprehensive care strategies.
  • Provide education for patients and families to encourage ownership of care outside clinical hours.
  • Support the occasional need for inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions, ensuring continuity in the patient's therapeutic journey.
  • Keep meticulous documentation that is in compliance with state, federal, and facility guidelines.
  • Engage in ongoing education and professional collaboration to stay at the forefront of the field.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Skills
  • Well-versed in evidence-based therapeutic approaches suitable for all age groups, with solid knowledge of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adept at adapting therapy methods to cater to varied cultural and linguistic requirements.
  • Strong clinical judgment and effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient with electronic medical record systems and documentation protocols.
