Under direct supervision of senior team members and Analytics leaders, Business Intelligence Analyst I delivers analytics solutions to end users that facilitate informed decision making. Enhances data literacy by educating customers to use data to improve MyMichigan Health processes, patient outcomes and patient & provider engagement and assists in developing training approaches. Competently uses tools to generate reports, dashboards & analytical solutions according to business needs or specifications. Manages time across multifaceted projects that range in size from small to medium. Is adaptable to changing priorities and assists in supporting analytics development alignment with strategic priorities. Demonstrates ability to work independently and/or in a team to train, guide, or assist others to utilize data to gain insights. Performs in-depth healthcare focused data analysis utilizing a variety of tools including Tableau, Excel, and Epic based analytics features. Has experience or expertise with at least one coding language such as SQL or Python. Has or is able to develop subject matter expertise for one or more application modules/data models within Epic or a specialized data analysis tool. Analyst is able to turn data into information or insights that assists in answering business questions, problems or clinical outcome understandings. Must complete Epic certification in 120 days of hiring.

Responsibilities

(40%) Collaborate and support MyMichigan analytics needs. Work with internal customers to identify analysis needs, gather and document requirements, build and test reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions. Designs simple to complex queries or analysis using structured query language and ensures analytic methodologies are followed and makes recommendations where necessary. Assist other technical team members with query and report design. Analysts work to integrate, analyze and interpret large data sets to create insights that drive the accomplishment of MyMichigan Strategic Priorities. Actively engages in required Epic reporting maintenance efforts and responsible for Epic Release and Implementation work required to support MyMichigan growth strategies.

(20%) Leads small support or project initiatives that align with the MyMichigan strategic priorities. Responsible for leading small initiatives including planning the work and managing the effort and tasks associated with the plan. Leverages support of others in completing the tasks on time and collaborates with Business and Clinical Leaders per project requirements. Coordinates work execution or workflow optimization with other Epic application teams as needed.

(15%) Collaborates with departmental teams to support data consolidation and warehousing needs by supporting or developing and maintaining ETL processes from source EMR systems into enterprise reporting environments (using Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS). Creates or partners to build user-friendly data visualizations in Tableau or Epic-based tools, maintaining and refining data sources that support dashboards, and indexing reporting content within Epic and other external platforms to ensure data quality, accessibility, and effective end-user consumption.

(15%) Provides support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for reporting tools, dashboards, analytical solutions, and related processes by maintaining the existing report portfolio, addressing user-reported issues, tuning performance as needed, and resolving errors. Supports and troubleshoots ETL and content- migration workflows, and collaborates with senior team members, application analysts, and Database Administrators when complex technical solutions are required.

(10%) Participates in the implementation and validation of system configuration changes; supports testing activities for reports and data extracts related to system or business changes; and assists with product upgrades and new tool implementations (including Epic, Tableau, and other approved technologies), which may require occasional weekend or after-hours coverage.

Lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues lists, and manage a project plan.

Takes notes during meetings and can identify when issue escalation is required.

Demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills.

Communicate effectively with project leadership and subject matter experts.

Continue to learn the software and increase their knowledge over time.

Employees are required to take a Computer Skills Assessment via the learning management system upon hire. Required Education

Bachelor's degree is required

Bachelors Degree with 1-2 years computer related experience required. Degree in IT, business, or health care field preferred.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS

Preferrably one (1) or more years of experience or more years of experience developing applications/reports within Epic, a Business Intelligence tool such as Tableau or, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 or other RDBMS platform.

Preferrably proficienct in SQL or expertise in analytics tools such as Tableau.

Exposure to reporting tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Reporting (SSRS); Crystal Reports or Business Objects.

Proficiency in data manipulation and extraction techniques.

Exposure to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) technology, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) preferred.

Experience with integrating data from heterogeneous systems (flat files, Excel as well as relational database systems.)

Team orientation, problem solving, and communication skills required.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel.

Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to collaborate at multiple organization levels across the health system as required, including both technical and non?technical staff.

Epic trained and / or certified preferred.

Working knowledge of data models from EMRs and/or healthcare.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.

May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.

Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching ,grasping , fingering and feeling.

May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0?33% of the workday) lift or carry0?10 lbs.
