Design/Field Engineer

***In order to be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Assistant Civil Engineer, or must have taken, passed, and be reachable on the open - competitive Assistant Civil Engineer list, Exam # 5015, or be eligible under the 55a program.***

Traffic Operations seeks to hire one Assistant Civil Engineer who will be responsible for engaging in the research, investigations, studies, or examinations related to the engineering functions or activities of a department or agency. The candidate will prepare designs, plans, contract and working drawings, contract specifications, other technical specifications, and estimates of quantities. The candidate will coordinate with design consultants on all capital and outside agencies' projects citywide. The successful candidate will review, comment, and prepare AutoCAD designs while evaluating contract documents for the modification of new and existing signalized intersections citywide. The candidate will participate in meetings with design consultants and lead agencies on their projects related to signalized intersections, and maintain records of drawings, plans, maps, surveys, and inspection data.

Some assignments may require a driver's license. Preference will be given to candidate who possess a driver's license valid in the state of New York. This license must be maintained throughout duration of appointment in this position.

Additional Information:
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.

Preferred Skills
-Excellent written and communication skills.
-Proficient in Microsoft applications.
-Possess a motor vehicle driver's license, valid in the state of New York.
