Role Overview

As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Coordinator - Blood Bank , you will lead and coordinate the daily operations of the Blood Bank laboratory while rotating through other laboratory departments, including Chemistry, Hematology, and Molecular Testing, to maintain competency and ensure seamless operations. You will provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting quality assurance and quality management programs across multiple areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for coordinating and leading the daily operations of the Blood Bank, to include scheduling and supervisory duties, using independent judgement to deliver the highest level of patient care and customer satisfaction

• Prioritizes, delegates, and oversees all phases of the laboratory process, ensuring all established processes, policies, and procedures for the laboratory are followed to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely results are reported.

• Oversees the quality assurance and quality management programs and ensures they are followed; follows up as appropriate with any deviations in process.

• Ensures ongoing laboratory compliance with all appropriate regulatory organizations, and all facility and system-wide requirements, including monitoring proficiency testing.

• Responsible for laboratory education and training of all team members, including orientation, acting as trainer and preceptor, ensuring competency documentation, and being a resource and mentor.

• Maintains competency in other laboratory departments (Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular Testing) to provide seamless coverage and support.

• Assists with gathering and monitoring data to achieve laboratory goals.

• In the absence of the manager or supervisor, assists with additional duties such as scheduling staffing, attending meetings, etc.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

?? Certification & Licensure

• Required: Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License

• Preferred: ASCP certification (MLS or BB)

?? Education

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or related Clinical Science field

?? Experience

• Required: Clinical laboratory experience, preferably in Blood Bank
