This is a fantastic opportunity for nursing students who wish to gain invaluable hands-on experience in a clinical setting. To qualify for our Nursing Intern role, candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing school, have completed their fundamentals of nursing class, and their first clinical rotation. Graduation must be within 18 months.

Flexible Scheduling: As a student nurse intern, you will commit to a minimum of 24 hours over four weeks, allowing you the flexibility to work around your academic schedule.

Program Overview: This externship is not just an internship; it is a pathway to becoming a graduate nurse, with the potential to transition into our Graduate Nurse Residency program upon completion of your nursing education. Enjoy hands-on clinical training across varied units with a dedicated preceptor guiding your experience. Opportunities include:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient care tasks, supervised by a registered nurse.
  • Monitor vital signs and assess patient conditions to support care quality.
  • Support patients with daily living activities, ensuring comfort and dignity.
  • Help with medical procedures, such as dressing changes and specimen collection, under guidance.
  • Foster a compassionate environment by responding to patient needs with empathy.
  • Maintain effective communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status and care.
  • Assist in preparing patients for discharge and providing necessary instructions.
  • Manage nursing supplies efficiently, supporting patient care and cost containment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and orient new patients to the unit.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program, having completed the first clinical rotation.
  • No prior experience necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through speech and hearing.
  • Frequent use of vision for patient assessments and to ensure safety.

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Work Schedule:

Variable shifts will be included.
