What does a Day Habilitation - Direct Support Professional do?

As a Direct Support Professional at The Arc of Chemung-Schuyler, you will play a crucial role in providing person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Whether onsite or offsite, you will help create opportunities for our participants to learn essential life skills, fostering their independence and enhancing their relationships within the community. Your responsibilities will include assisting individuals in various activities such as volunteering, recreational pursuits, wellness programs, and skill-building exercises. What we're looking for in a Day Habilitation - Direct Support Professional

Successful candidates for the Direct Support Professional position must possess a compassionate and empathetic demeanor, with a genuine desire to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. While no specific software or tools are required for this role, candidates should be at least 18 years old, hold a valid and clean driver's license, and have a High School Diploma or GED. Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential for effectively carrying out the responsibilities of this position. A willingness to learn and adapt to various situations, coupled with a reliable and professional work ethic, will contribute to creating a positive impact on the lives of our program participants.
