Role Description

We are in search of a dynamic and experienced Warehouse Operations Leader to manage the operations of our Hayward, California warehouse facility. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of inbound and outbound freight, lead and motivate a team of warehouse personnel, ensure compliance with ISO standards, and uphold excellence in safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee Inbound and Outbound Operations: Manage the flow of goods through receipt, storage, and dispatch, ensuring accurate freight processing. Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to streamline logistics operations.
• Inventory Control: Maintain precise inventory records, perform regular stock audits, and implement strategies to reduce discrepancies, damage, or loss.
• Freight Optimization: Design and execute effective loading and unloading procedures to maximize space utilization and minimize turnaround times.

Team Leadership and Development

• Team Management: Lead, supervise, and inspire a team of warehouse associates, focusing on hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Employee Engagement: Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Training and Development: Deliver ongoing training regarding safety, equipment use, and technology systems to enhance team efficiency and productivity.

Compliance and Standards

• ISO Standards Compliance: Ensure compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001) in all warehouse operations, maintaining thorough documentation and preparing for audits.
• Safety Regulations: Enforce adherence to OSHA and safety regulations through regular inspections and corrective actions as necessary.
• Process Standardization: Develop and sustain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure uniformity and compliance across all warehouse processes.

Equipment and Technology

• Forklift Operation: Safely and efficiently operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment while ensuring proper maintenance and certifications are maintained.
• Technology Utilization: Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory tracking software, and other technologies to enhance operations and track performance metrics.
• Process Automation: Identify and implement technology and automation opportunities to boost efficiency and decrease errors.

Operational Excellence

• Performance Metrics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, on-time delivery, and inventory turnover to foster continuous improvement.
• Cost Management: Optimize operational costs by efficient use of labor, equipment, and resources, all while maintaining high service levels.
• Problem Resolution: Swiftly address operational issues, employing root-cause analysis and corrective actions to avert future occurrences.

Ethics and Professionalism

• High Ethical Standards: Promote integrity, transparency, and accountability across all operations, ensuring equitable treatment of staff, vendors, and customers.
• Sustainability Practices: Advocate for eco-friendly practices such as waste reduction and efficient resource usage aligned with company values.

Qualifications

• Experience: At least 5 years of warehouse management experience, with 3 years in a supervisory capacity. Experience handling inbound/outbound freight and ISO compliance is crucial.
• Certifications: Forklift certification is required; additional certifications in warehouse management, safety (e.g., OSHA), or ISO standards are advantageous.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to operate forklifts and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
• Ethical Standards: Proven commitment to ethical conduct, safety, and compliance in a fast-paced environment.
