Department Overview

At McDonald's, AI is reshaping how we operate and serve customers. From drive-thru management and kitchen automation powered by Computer Vision to customer care and voice ordering enabled by Natural Language Processing, AI is at the heart of how we deliver flawless, efficient, and personalized experiences across 100+ countries.

This role leads AI system engineering, with a focus on building sophisticated AI solutions that align with enterprise architecture and evolving business goals. This role balances building scalable AI infrastructure with hands-on model training, ensuring that sophisticated AI solutions are robust, production-ready, and aligned with enterprise architecture. The Senior AI Engineer will lead design, experimentation, and deployment of end-to-end AI systems, while fostering innovation and excellence across teams..

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Architect and design AI agent systems using frameworks like LangGraph or CrewAI that can effectively understand, reason about, and implement professional services workflows.

• Drive end-to-end AI projects involving agentic AI that navigate high degrees of ambiguity, scale, and complexity.

• Optimize infrastructure for distributed training, inference latency, cost efficiency, and reliability.

• Collaborate with enterprise engineering teams to ensure secure, compliant, and production-grade deployment of AI workloads.

• Design benchmarking pipelines and conduct systematic experiments to identify best-fit architectures for use cases.

• Build reusable model templates and components to accelerate AI adoption across domains.

• Partner with product, data, and engineering teams to identify high-impact AI opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related field

• 4-10 years of professional experience with at least 2+ years in AI/ML engineering, covering both system design and model training.

• Proven expertise in enterprise AI system architecture, including distributed training, containerized deployments, and cloud/hybrid platforms.

• Strong programming skills in Python; familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or HuggingFace.

• Solid understanding of MLOps practices: CI/CD for ML, monitoring, drift detection, retraining pipelines.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse collaborators across technology and business functions.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills, with ability to explain complex AI systems to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Passion for innovation, experimentation, and applying AI responsibly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science/AI or a related field

• 3+ years of experience in scaling AI applications

• Familiarity with Agentic AI technology

• Familiarity with edge AI deployment and hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure.

• Experience with observability tools (model monitoring, logging, tracing)

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $127,332.00 - $159,165.00 per year
