Mid-Level QA Automation Engineer - 6+ Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Hire)

Our client, a leader in the healthcare industry, is seeking a Mid-Level QA Automation Engineer for a 6+ month contract role with potential for extension or hire in North Miami, FL.

Local candidates only; no relocation provided. This hybrid role requires working onsite Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with Fridays remote.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Software Engineer who has transitioned into QA Automation and wants to leverage their development skills to build automation frameworks that drive efficiency and product quality. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of automation engineering experience with a strong development foundation, and a proven ability to collaborate with product and technical teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Java, JavaScript, or similar development languages.
  • Build and execute regression suites using Playwright (preferred), Cypress, or other automation frameworks.
  • Evaluate test cases and determine what should be automated versus executed manually (e.g., repetitive or trivial workflows).
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other teams to address questions, align on requirements, and resolve issues.
  • Drive an automation-first testing approach to reduce manual effort and increase operational efficiency.
  • Analyze user stories and acceptance criteria, translating them into robust automated test cases.
  • Provide clear communication on quality issues, risks, and timelines to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of automation frameworks, tools, and practices.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies as a core Scrum team member.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Playwright (preferred), Cypress, or other.
  • Proven development background (Java, JavaScript, or similar), with the ability to design and debug automation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, automation best practices, and test strategy.
  • Experience defining automation strategy: identifying what to automate vs. what should remain manual.
  • Familiarity with SQL and backend data validation through automated checks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional QA Automation experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in API testing, integration testing, and automation frameworks.
  • Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
