Broadcom's Application, Networking and Software business unit is a leader in distributed and gateway security. Within ANS, the Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) product is a pioneer and market leader in distributed security, through micro segmentation. Micro segmentation allows for security and access controls between workloads within an enterprise for stronger zero trust security control. Our Gateway firewall product provides security and control when connecting to WANs.

You will be part of a tightly knit and fast paced team that will work in an agile environment solving key internal/external customer challenges. This means that we anticipate problems customers will experience before they experience them, and we do this through writing comprehensive end to end test cases. We utilize complex automation to build the test environments and execute the test cases. Team strength spans from testing various distributed security solution from functional, system/scale & performance aspects of testing.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • you'll be responsible for owning the end-to-end testing of one or more major subsystems in the next generation NSX network virtualization product.

  • You will be expected to coordinate not only within the test team, but across the development, product management, and solution architects to ensure a feature is tested from the functional, scale, system, and performance perspectives.

  • You will be given broad problem sets and trusted to implement well-engineered solutions via automation driven methodologies.

  • Design complex distributed architectures, influence to get them adopted by peer group, then work with management to get it implemented.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Write high quality test code to execute complex tests on a distributed system.

  • Participate in design and code reviews.

  • Apply innovative testing to further improve the quality of software defined networking security feature(s).

  • Be a strong advocate of software quality.

  • Work across teams with Product management, Support engineers, and across the Dev and QE organizations.

  • Implement code to streamline automation and reduce cycle times.

  • Track test deliverables to product release schedule.

  • You have a Bachelors/master's in computer science or related degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in computer science & engineering and 6+ years related experience or Masters in Computer Science & Engineering and 4+ years related experience

  • 2+ Years Virtualization experience - Installation/Configuration/Administration. Good understanding of IO subsystems and virtualization. (ESX and KVM preferred)

  • 2+ years of Python, Go, Scala or equivalent.

  • Operating Systems: Deep Linux knowledge along with Installation/Configuration/Administration (RHEL and Ubuntu a plus)

  • Deep interest in internet technology and security concepts with emphasis on the firewall architectures and implementation. Technologies include Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, L7 and others.

  • Knowledge using commercial test tools such as Spirent Avalanche, IX Load or Breaking Point is desirable.

  • Develop and design effective test automation and contribute to CI/CD.

  • Solid knowledge of OOP concepts, object/data modeling, and data structures.

  • Hands-on Experience in Linux environment and with networking protocols HTTP, SSL, TCP/IP and UDP.

  • Networking troubleshooting / debugging - e.g., tcpdump, wire shark, traceroute, route, netstat.

  • SCM: git, gerrit, Perforce, SVN

The hiring manager for this role is Harikumar Subburam, Manager, ANS Division. His team focuses on end-to-end qualification & testing for ANS products that include developing test plans, automating & qualifying product features used across the pipelines.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $101,000 - $162,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
