DOCSI is on the lookout for a passionate and innovative software engineer ready to make a significant impact on our advanced surgical waste elimination platform. By joining our engineering team, you will work hand-in-hand with our Director of Engineering, gaining valuable insights into the operations and strategic challenges faced by an early-stage startup. Your contributions will be vital in shaping key technical decisions for our company.

This exciting role will involve:

  • Collaborating closely with the Director of Engineering and fellow engineers to enhance and maintain our software solutions.
  • Designing and developing new user experiences to simplify the often complex process of managing surgical waste.
  • Contributing to the development of machine learning tools that improve the quality of surgical waste reduction recommendations.
  • Creating efficient data pipelines and integrations to support our scalable and reliable platform.
  • Playing a key role in design discussions that will influence the long-term direction of our product.
  • Building meaningful connections within the Twin Cities startup community.
  • Contributing to the culture of a dynamic and growing engineering team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a software engineer or in a similar capacity.
  • Proficiency in web development using languages/frameworks such as PHP, React, Python, or Java.
  • Strong experience with relational database systems like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects from inception through to completion.
  • Understanding of systems designed to handle large, often inconsistent data imports.
  • Action-oriented self-starter with a focus on enhancing existing processes.
  • A commitment to lifelong learning, eager to explore new ideas and apply them in your work.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience handling PHI or other sensitive data, with experience in compliance audits a plus.
  • Design experience focused on creating seamless, mobile-friendly user experiences.
  • A passion for startups or prior experience in early-stage companies.
  • A background in healthcare or supply chain is advantageous.
  • (Extra consideration) Familiarity with Laravel, Apache Spark, Terraform, and/or AWS cloud services.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of $100,000 - $140,000.
  • An equity package based on candidates' skills and experience.
  • Unlimited vacation policy.
