Position Overview
The Emergency Department Nurse Manager provides 24/7 operational and clinical leadership for the Emergency Unit. This role partners closely with physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality emergency care while fostering a positive and engaged team culture.
What You'll Do
Lead & Inspire
- Directly lead, mentor, and develop emergency nursing staff
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top ER talent
- Ensure delivery of evidence-based emergency care
- Monitor patient flow, throughput, and quality outcomes
- Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and performance initiatives
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and productivity
- Oversee department budget, supplies, and resource utilization
- Collaborate on strategic planning and departmental goals
- Partner with physicians, EMS, ancillary services, and leadership
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards
- Serve as a visible, hands-on leader in the department
Required
- Active Illinois RN license
- BSN required (MSN preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience
- At least 2-3 years of nursing leadership or management experience
- Strong communication, decision-making, and team-building skills
- Emergency Department leadership experience
- Experience with high-volume or high-acuity ER environments
- Proven success with staff engagement and quality initiatives
- Hourly Range: $42.37 - $63.56
