About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and hands-on Senior Software Architect who is a decisive technical leader. You will play a crucial role in designing and evolving a secure, multitenant, cloud-native platform built on .NET in AWS. Our technology stack includes PostgreSQL, React with Fluent UI, and modern DevSecOps practices. In this role, you will serve as the architecture decision maker, defining the target state, making key tradeoffs (ADRs), effectively communicating with executives and engineers, and partnering with Security/Compliance to ensure HIPAA requirements are met. Your guidance will be essential in helping teams deliver solutions that are simple, scalable, and cost-effective.

What You'll Do

• Lead architectural decisions: Own ADRs and design governance, set standards, and make informed choices that effectively balance speed, cost, and risk.

• Communicate effectively: Translate complex tradeoffs for executives and customers; facilitate design reviews and collaborative sessions.

• Develop the architecture: Take ownership of a greenfield/cloud-native .NET platform on AWS, producing reference architectures, threat models, and deployment blueprints.

• Design multitenant SaaS: Establish strategies for tenant isolation, data partitioning, rate limiting, configuration, and usage observability.

• Model core domains & APIs: Use domain-driven design to define contracts, versioning, and API gateways; advocate for consistency and adaptability.

• Select & integrate AWS services: Knowledge of services like ECS/EKS or Lambda, API Gateway/ALB, S3/CloudFront, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, and others.

• Data architecture expertise: Establish schema and migration strategies for PostgreSQL, focusing on performance, scalability, and HA/DR.

• Frontend architecture: Leverage React + Fluent UI to create a component library, ensuring accessibility and performance.

• Implement Security by Design: Ensure strong security measures such as encryption, least-privilege IAM, SSO, and secure development practices.

• Ensure HIPAA alignment: Work with Security/Compliance teams to implement necessary safeguards and logging requirements.

• Focus on reliability & performance: Define SLOs, perform capacity planning, and implement resiliency patterns.

• Enhance observability: Set up distributed tracing, metrics, logging, and effective alerting strategies.

• Drive DevEx and velocity: Implement CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and quality gates to streamline processes.

• Mentor and lead: Coach engineers through design reviews and foster a culture of learning and collaboration.

Required Qualifications

• Exceptional communication and influence skills, including clear storytelling and facilitation.

• 8+ years of experience building production web platforms; 3+ years in an architect/tech lead role.

• In-depth AWS expertise in designing secure and cost-effective services.

• Proficient in C#/.NET (ASP.NET Core) and modern API patterns (REST/JSON; gRPC is a plus).

• Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL including schema design and performance tuning.

• Frontend skills in React and familiarity with Fluent UI.

• Thorough understanding of multitenant SaaS patterns and distributed systems.

• Experience in implementing observability, CI/CD, and IaC in production settings.

• Strong grasp of security fundamentals and knowledge of HIPAA technical safeguards.

Nice to Have

• Experience with HL7 v2/FHIR and EHR ecosystems (e.g., Epic).

• Familiarity with HITRUST/SOC 2 program implementation.

• Experience with messaging/streaming technologies (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).

• Knowledge of container orchestration tools and networking.

• Experience with caching, analytics, and performance tuning.

• Familiarity with Next.js or advanced React rendering techniques.

• A well-defined reference architecture with documented decisions and guidelines adopted across teams.

• A production-ready multitenant foundation with automated provisioning and monitoring.

• A secure, observable MVP deployed in AWS with established performance metrics.

• CI/CD pipelines enabling efficient and safe deployment practices.

• Compliance evidence mapped to HIPAA/SOC 2/HITRUST standards.

Work Style & Collaboration

• Remote-first environment with limited in-person sessions (1-2 days per quarter), travel supported.

• Collaborate with Product, Security/Compliance, and Customer Success teams and engage with clients as needed.

• Facilitate design reviews and promote straightforward, adaptable solutions over complex ones.
