The Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Engineer/Scientist I is pivotal within the Artificial Intelligence Operations and Services group (AIOS) in the Informatics & Analytics department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision to develop reusable and scalable AI/ML tools and pipelines that fortify Dana-Farber’s operations, research, and clinical practices.

As part of a collaborative, matrixed team, you will work closely with client-facing leads, software engineers, product managers, project managers, project sponsors, and clients. The Informatics & Analytics department is dedicated to serving patients by creating a robust ecosystem of tools and services that enhance the Institute's research, clinical, and business missions. The AIOS group specializes in AI, machine learning, computer vision, NLP, production deployment, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, project management standards, and data labeling.

Located in Boston, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is at the forefront of groundbreaking cancer research and patient care. Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the creation and deployment of AI solutions, ensuring reliable tracking of model performance and cross-platform efficiency.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of machine learning models throughout their lifecycle, ensuring high accuracy and auditability.
  • Help develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models in cloud environments, including workflows for various training and inference methods.
  • Engage with end users and data science teams to gather functional requirements through methods such as interviews, prototypes, and use cases.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress to the AIOS team, project sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with teammates to achieve shared goals and contribute to successful project outcomes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in machine learning and AI required.
  • Relevant lab work, research, teaching assistantships, internships, or cooperative education in advanced degree programs may be counted towards work experience.
  • Experience in a clinical or research setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience serving diverse customers and projects.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to the evolving needs of the Institute.
  • Proficiency in Python is required; experience with R, Databricks, or Snowflake is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MLOPS, ML engineering, GenAI, data engineering, and pipelines is advantageous.
