About the Role: Join Sturgeon Electric's Commercial and Industrial (C&I) electrical construction division, a leader in large-scale commercial electrical projects. Our expertise includes Integrated Lean Project Delivery methods, pre-construction services, in-house pre-fabrication, and advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the electrical construction process, ensuring our competitiveness and profitability while fostering relationships with clients and partners. Your responsibilities will include preparing comprehensive cost estimates and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFOs) for various commercial and industrial electrical projects. Additionally, you will mentor and train junior Estimators and Estimator Trainees.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare detailed labor and material cost estimates.
  • Outline and respond to RFPs and RFQs.
  • Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures for Estimating.
  • Develop strategies to secure project awards.
  • Enhance and maintain the estimating database.
  • Cultivate relationships with clients.
  • Assist team members in estimating and bid preparation.
  • Review and assess the performance of Estimating staff.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the Estimating team.
  • Coordinate with Project Management teams.
  • Maintain a comprehensive bid log and report progress to corporate.
  • Prepare bills of material and information for Purchasing teams.
  • Evaluate constructability requirements through field walk-downs.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in project document comparisons.
  • Conduct field take-offs and evaluations to support estimate preparation.
  • Engage in the estimate review process with stakeholders.
  • Support construction staff throughout the project lifecycle with cost estimates.
  • Prepare and submit change orders as needed.
  • Close any loops in the estimating process post-project, including invoicing and cost tracking.
  • Perform these essential functions in designated office or field locations.
  • Contribute to managing Estimating and BIM departments.
  • Uphold the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy.

About You:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical construction estimating.
  • Strong understanding of current local and national electrical codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural, mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Familiarity with electrical materials and installation methods.
  • General understanding of engineered material costs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Accubid, or similar estimating software.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with focus.
