ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, Student Assistant A is responsible for assisting with various tasks. This position is designed to provide opportunities to students to hone customer service skills, team development, and foster professional growth.
The Bronco Bookstore has a variety of openings and applicants will be interviewed and sorted into the differing areas of the Bookstore depending on which best fits their skills and availability.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
• Accurately process sales transactions and refunds
• Accurately handle various payment types
• Clean, stock and maintain a safe working environment at all times
• Back office tasks such as inventory counting and system data entry
• Provide a good balance of technical and people skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Prepare documents/materials as necessary.
• Possess the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, handle confidential materials appropriately, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy.
• Assist individuals via phone, email or in person.
• Assist with special projects.
• Must be able to communicate regularly with direct supervisor all work status updates as well as task completions.
• The student assistant must possess the ability to work well with staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.

• Ability to adhere to a regular work schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Must be a current Cal Poly Pomona student.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Proficiency in using the latest version of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and mail merges; email and web searches.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Enterprises offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Enterprises also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Enterprises administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Enterprises contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
