We're seeking a Fleet Service Technician - a hands-on technician ready to take the next step into leadership. This role is part of a planned succession and leadership development opportunity within our Fleet Operations group. The selected candidate will work closely with management to gain full exposure to fleet operations, vendor relations, compliance, and supervisory responsibilities while continuing to perform technical service and repair work.
Compensation starting at $24+/hr, depending on experience
What You'll Do
In this hybrid role, you'll perform both technical and leadership duties to support the safe, efficient operation of HB McClure's vehicle fleet:
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles (gas and diesel), including emergency or roadside repairs when needed.
- Conduct required Pennsylvania state safety and emissions inspections.
- Manage preventative maintenance schedules and ensure accurate repair documentation.
- Support DOT compliance, including driver record and inspection tracking.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventorying parts and supplies.
- Track labor, materials, and fleet costs in management software.
- Coordinate vendor repairs and warranty work; assist with purchasing and cost allocation.
- Help train drivers and field staff on vehicle use, safety, and reporting procedures.
- Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Participate in leadership development and cross-training with the current Fleet Service Manager to prepare for full management responsibility.
- 3-5 years of experience in automotive or fleet maintenance and repair.
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills with both gas and diesel systems.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and Pennsylvania inspection requirements.
- Current PA state inspection license required; emissions license preferred.
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Med Card).
- Valid PA driver's license and acceptable MVR; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Basic computer proficiency with fleet management or maintenance software.
- Proven reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
