We are seeking a fully trained shop mechanic who is capable of performing all required shop job duties and routine preventative maintenance tasks. In this role, you will handle all repairs related to trailers and minor refrigeration power unit repairs.

Your Responsibilities as an Experienced Mechanic:

• Perform functions of a Grade 4 Mechanic.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on trailer refrigeration units.
• Execute simple and complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Independently diagnose, remove, repair, replace, or rebuild:
  • Clutches
  • Water pumps
  • Tires
  • Tractor suspension
  • Body repairs
  • Rear differentials
  • Drive lines
  • Transmissions
  • Wheel seals
  • Brake systems
• Diagnose and tune-up diesel engines and perform front wheel and axle alignments on trailers.
• Troubleshoot cooling systems and conduct diagnostic tests.
• Wield cutting torches and welding machines as needed.
• Utilize service bulletins and technical manuals effectively.
• Maintain and organize shop tools.
• Complete all paperwork and computer entries accurately.
• Adhere to company work and safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with supervisors and peers.
• Follow directions and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Achieve training and certification for any required equipment within 30 days of hire.
• Comply with attendance policies and maintain a flexible schedule, including availability for shop on-call rotation and road calls as needed.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED, with trade school training in heavy-duty diesel repairs or refrigeration classes preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in diesel repair, tractor-trailer, and refrigeration maintenance and repairs.
• One year of documented fleet maintenance experience or one year of employment as a Class C Technician.
• Possess basic hand tools (up to ½" drive) and tool storage.
• Obtain ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) within one year of hire.
• Valid Class C Driver's License is required; Class A is preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp, and reach overhead for extended periods.
• Preferred certifications include:
  • International Maxx Force 13 Engines
  • Transportation Refrigeration
  • Brake Systems and Components
  • Tractor A/C Refrigeration and Freon Recovery (609 license)
  • Trailer Refrigeration (608 license) for trailer units
  • Heavy-duty electrical diagnostics and repairs
  • ASE Certification in heavy-duty mechanics and Cummins or Detroit certification.
• This position requires reading, writing, and understanding English at a level sufficient to perform job tasks safely and effectively, including comprehending work instructions, safety protocols, and essential communications.
