Government Sales Representative - Municipal & Institutional Outdoor Power Equipment

Ag-Pro Companies, a leading dealer of John Deere, Stihl, Morbark, and other top brands, is recruiting a dedicated public-sector sales professional to sell new and used municipal-grade equipment exclusively to cities, counties, townships, school districts, parks departments, public works fleets, and state agencies across your territory.

If you've ever bid on an RFP, walked a maintenance garage at 6 a.m., or helped a superintendent stretch budget dollars across a five-year replacement cycle-this is your lane.
Key Responsibilities
  • Win and retain government contracts - sell zero-turn mowers, compact tractors, boom mowers, tractor-mounted side-flails, skid-steers, mini-excavators, utility vehicles, turf-care attachments, and snow-removal gear to municipalities, K-12 schools, colleges, and state DOTs.
  • Master public procurement - navigate Sourcewell, HGACBuy, NJPA, state-term contracts, and local bidding portals to secure sole-source and competitive awards.
  • Stay ahead of legislative changes - monitor ARPA, IIJA, state grant programs, and electrification mandates; position Ag-Pro as the go-to vendor before RFPs hit the street.
  • Own the CRM & pipeline - maintain 100% accurate account records, fleet inventories, grant timelines, and election-cycle budget triggers in Salesforce.
  • Deliver budget-ready solutions - build multi-year trade-in cycles, lease-purchase packages, and cooperative-purchase pricing that survive council scrutiny.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations - appraise aging fleets, document trade values, and present side-by-side cost-of-ownership reports that justify new purchases.
  • Lead ride-and-drive events - host municipal demo days, safety-training workshops, and operator certifications that lock in long-term loyalty.
  • Represent at industry conferences - attend TLGA, APWA, ASBO, TML, TAC, and state school-facility shows to build relationships and capture upcoming budgets.

What You Bring
  • 2+ years selling to government entities (municipal equipment, cooperative contracts, or public-works solutions strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record winning Sourcewell, HGAC, OMNIA, or state-term contracts.
  • Deep knowledge of public bidding laws, prevailing wage, Buy-American, and grant compliance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, bid-software platforms (BidNet, DemandStar, Bonfire), and CRM systems.
  • Flexible schedule - early-morning garage visits, evening council meetings, and occasional overnight travel for trade shows.
  • Exceptional consultative selling and public-speaking skills in front of committees and boards.
