Position Summary:
The Commercial Loan Processor is responsible for managing and preparing all required documentation related to commercial loan transactions. This role ensures that loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The Documentation Specialist works closely with loan originators, underwriters, and processing teams to facilitate smooth loan closings and to support the overall commercial lending process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Document Preparation & Review
- Prepare, review, and organize all documentation for commercial loan transactions, including loan agreements, collateral documents, and closing statements.
- Verify that all required documents are complete, accurate, and meet investor guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Ensure timely collection of documents from borrowers, legal counsel, and third-party vendors.
- Ensure that all commercial loan documentation adheres to internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular quality checks on loan files to identify and correct discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal and regulatory changes affecting commercial loan documentation and update processes accordingly.
- Work closely with loan originators, underwriters, processors, and legal teams to gather necessary documentation and resolve issues.
- Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external parties (e.g., attorneys, title companies, appraisers) to ensure smooth documentation flow.
- Provide clear communication and updates on documentation status to management and team members.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical files for all commercial loan transactions, ensuring secure and easily retrievable records.
- Prepare regular reports on documentation progress, quality, and compliance metrics for senior management review.
- Assist in audits and regulatory examinations by providing accurate and comprehensive documentation records.
- Identify opportunities to streamline documentation processes and improve turnaround times.
- Assist in the development and implementation of best practices, standard operating procedures, and technology solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry trends and regulatory requirements.

Work Experience Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial loan documentation, loan processing, or a similar role within a banking or financial services environment. Experience working with commercial loan products, legal documentation, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- In-depth understanding of commercial lending documentation requirements, including legal and regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with loan processing and document management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Education Requirements:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, finance, legal studies, or a related field is preferred.
Licensing or Certification Requirements:
NMLS preferred.
