Registered Respiratory Therapist - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit & Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician. This role requires the ability to work in various units such as the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Pediatric Emergency Room (ER). The therapist will perform patient assessments, institute respiratory care plans, and execute various technical and diagnostic procedures throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency response to Code Blue and Code White situations.
  • Perform airway management including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
  • Deliver aerosolized drugs and manage ventilator setups and operations.
  • Conduct oral hygiene and manage airway support devices like BiPAP and CPAP.
  • Administer oxygen therapy and monitor therapeutic interventions.
  • Collect and analyze blood gases and conduct EKG analyses.
  • Document patient care accurately and completely.
  • Participate in CAP and JC surveys as required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • 1 - 3 years of experience preferred.
  • RT or RCP License in the state of employment required.
  • BLS required (AHA only).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by NBRC required.
  • Current ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required (AHA only).
