Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift assignment requiring travel experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 46-bed inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit within an acute care setting
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts with every other weekend required
• Assignment is 13 weeks in length
• Unit cares for telemetry and medical/surgical patients including neurology, cardiology, urology, ortho, general surgery, renal, pulmonology, and infectious diseases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5
• No cath lab, CVOR, or invasive neurology procedures are performed
• Cerner EMR is used on the unit
• Must be prepared to float to sister facility in Laveen and be the first to float if needed
• Charge nurse and PCTs/nursing aides are present on all shifts
• Floor-specific orientation is provided
• Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, medication administration, lab draws if phlebotomy is unavailable, and working with interdisciplinary teams
• SIMs Lab includes education on lifts, restraints, and wound care specific to facility policies and equipment
• One major and one minor holiday coverage required during assignment
• Navy scrubs required as dress code
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy support available 24/7
• No hospitalist or intensivist in-house coverage available
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience
• Previous travel RN experience is required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required at time of consideration; pending certifications not accepted
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract, with two attempts permitted
• Must pass SIMs Lab skills check on sterile technique, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes on day one
• Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred
• COVID vaccination is required or declination form with supporting clergy or MD documentation
• Candidates must not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
