High Point University's Assistant Director of Case Management works in collaboration with multiple offices under Student Services (including the Office of Counseling Services, Community Standards, CARE/ BIT Team) to manage student risk and support needs to promote and prevent further escalation of mental health and general wellness related concerns. This role supports high touch connection and advocacy across campus programs and resources to ensure students receive services applicable in their given situation. The Assistant Director of Case Management serves as the coordinator of CARE team activities under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Vice President for Student Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Areas of education considered: student affairs, social work, counseling, student affairs, higher education, human resources, and other related fields as qualified.
Experience and Training
  • Knowledge of HPU and understanding of the culture of HPU is expected.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in a college setting and familiarity with student affairs in higher education
  • Working understanding case management processes in a mental health environment.
  • Preferred NABITA training and experience related to CARE, Threat Assessment, or Case Management.
  • Experience with Maxient, StarFish, and Colleague software preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
  • Exceptional customer service, communications, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and a digital mindset to learn and use various software programs throughout the university system.
  • Prioritization, organization, multitasking, and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex and potentially sensitive issues.
  • Flexibility and ability to respond to crisis quickly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use crisis intervention skills and familiarity with mental health terminology & current trends in higher education.
  • Ongoing updates to referral sources for CARE support and counseling services needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Drafts and circulates weekly Care Meeting Agenda to all Care Team members in a timely manner.
  • Processes incoming reports regarding students of concern and triage to appropriate areas for follow-up support.
  • Communicates with key university stakeholders to support students and keep all parties updated, including but not limited to Counseling Services, Academic Services, the Office of Title IX, Residence Life, OARS, and Security/Campus Police.
  • Assists with identifying necessary resources and services for students of concern.
  • Collects and maintains all associated data and ensures accurate records are kept, via Maxient.
  • Works with the Counseling Services and other campus partners to review and analyze data to inform preventative programming as needed or requested by Care Team or Counseling Services.
  • Assists with educating the campus community on the Care process and how/when to make appropriate referrals at the direction of AVP and Care Team.
  • Understands and commits to maintaining Care case data and tracks all communication, following the processes outlined by AVP and Care Team Chair.
  • Manages Care Alerts and schedules appointments as needed.
  • Meet students in a non-clinical setting to assess needs and identify resources, as needed or requested.
  • Tracks and promotes coordination of care for high-risk students.
  • Supports counseling center as a liaison between external providers, parents, and students as needed for hospital discharge or management of risk behaviors.
