Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing treatment to patients as per physician orders and departmental policies. You will work independently in a range of acute and critical care settings, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare personnel to recommend appropriate treatments. You must be skilled in treating patients across all age groups, including infants, children, adults, and seniors.

We also offer competitive sign-on bonuses for eligible full-time positions: $7,500 for experienced Direct Care Respiratory Therapists with one year of experience and $5,000 for those with less than a year of experience, along with $1,800 in student tax-free loan repayment each year. Accountabilities

  • Perform respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with physician orders, departmental policies, and guidelines. - 20%
  • Obtain and analyze blood gases, providing accurate reports. - 10%
  • Initiate and manage all types of mechanical ventilation for patients. - 20%
  • Manage airways and associated equipment effectively. - 10%
  • Document and charge respiratory care procedures accurately, providing education to patients and families as needed. - 10%
  • Communicate effectively with all healthcare team members, providing complete reports and recommendations. - 10%
  • Adhere to infection control and quality initiatives, ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment. - 10%
  • Utilize resources efficiently, including supplies and time. - 10%

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

This is a non-management role reporting to a supervisor or manager.

Minimum Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited school for Respiratory Therapy or be eligible for licensure in South Carolina, or be a senior student graduating in the next 3 months.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

Must possess a South Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner license or be eligible for it, as well as a BLS certification. Maintain NBRC credentials. Individuals hired from June 2016 on must pass exams as specified within six months of graduation.

NRP and PALS certifications are required for working independently in the NICU and PICU.

Other Required Skills and Experience

Effective teamwork, strong communication, organizational, and computer skills are essential.
