Job Summary
This position involves providing essential respiratory therapy to patients based on physician orders and departmental policies. You will work independently in acute and critical care environments, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare personnel while making appropriate treatment recommendations. We seek individuals capable of treating patients of all ages, including infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

We offer competitive sign-on bonuses tailored for eligible full-time positions: $7500 for Direct Care Respiratory Therapists with one year of experience (or $5000 for those with less than one year) and licensed in South Carolina. Additionally, we provide $1,800 tax-free student loan repayment annually. If relocating to South Carolina, inquire about our relocation assistance program.

Accountabilities
- Perform respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with physician orders and departmental policies. - 20%
- Obtain and analyze blood gases from all sites, reporting results accurately. - 10%
- Initiate and manage all types of mechanical ventilation for patients. - 20%
- Manage airways and associated equipment effectively. - 10%
- Document and charge for all respiratory care procedures completely, providing patient and family education as needed. - 10%
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, providing comprehensive reports and recommendations. - 10%
- Adhere to infection control and quality initiatives, performing necessary cleaning/disinfection of equipment. - 10%
- Utilize resources responsibly, including supplies and time. - 10%
Supervisory/Management Responsibility
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program recognized by the American Medical Association or eligibility for licensure in South Carolina, or being a senior student graduating within three months.
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in South Carolina OR be eligible for licensure OR be a senior student graduating in the next 3 months. BLS certification is required, with maintained NBRC credentials. Applicants hired before June 2016 may be certified as Respiratory Therapists.
Those hired from June 2016 onwards must pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam at the Registered Therapist cut score and take the Clinical Simulation Exam within six months of graduation. Failure to pass the clinical simulation exam during this period will result in termination from Prisma Health.
NRP and PALS certifications are required prior to independent work in the NICU and PICU.
Other Required Skills and Experience
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with strong communication, computer, and organizational skills required.
