Job Summary
The College Advising Coordinator supports the development and delivery of year-round and summer programming for alumni of Mass General Brigham's Youth Programs, providing post-secondary and career advising services to alumni pursuing college, trades, or workforce development pathways. This position plays a central role in supporting alumni as they navigate their post-secondary experiences and deepen their connection to opportunities at Mass General Brigham and within related career fields.
The coordinator provides individualized and group-based coaching, facilitates workshops, and fosters strong relationships with students and post-secondary institutions. This role requires knowledge of college access and persistence processes, strong facilitation and interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to educational equity and youth development.
This position reports to the Senior Alumni Program Manager and the Summer Jobs Manager, and works closely with other Youth Programs staff and partners to ensure a high-quality experience for all participants.

• Provide individualized advising to alumni students as they navigate post-secondary, workforce, and career pathways
• Develop and facilitate workshops for alumni on topics related to college persistence, career readiness, professional skills, and opportunities within Mass General Brigham
• Coordinate engagement opportunities for alumni, including networking events, community-building activities, and connections to campus, workforce, and MGB resources
• Support alumni in exploring and pursuing career pathways at Mass General Brigham, including resume development, job search guidance, and navigation of internal opportunities
• Track and monitor alumni progress to ensure advising goals are met, providing targeted outreach and additional support as needed
• Build and maintain relationships with local colleges, trade and training programs, and MGB Workforce Development teams to enhance resources and outcomes for alumni
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and advising for summer cohorts; assist the Summer Jobs Program with alumni recruitment, site placement, supervisor communication, student check-ins, and workshop facilitation
• Contribute to program planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and outcome reporting to strengthen alumni support services
• Participate in evening and weekend events and activities as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of Mass General Brigham Youth Programs

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Experience in college access, advising, or youth development programs 3-5 years required and Experience working with first-generation and underrepresented students in urban school or community settings 0-1 year required and Familiarity with the Boston education landscape and local post-secondary resources is preferred 0-1 year preferred and Experience with progressive responsibility in youth development, college access (Upward Bound experience ideal) 3-5 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the college application and financial aid process, including FAFSA and scholarships.
- Demonstrated knowledge and successful strategies for addressing the needs of first-generation and city youth.
- A track record of successfully accomplishing multiple goals, team building, and communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for students.
- Goal-driven approach to work with a demonstrated ability to develop a positive rapport with leaders and decision-makers from different sectors.
- Works well within a large, complex system with multiple internal stakeholders.
- Proven as a team player.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work collaboratively to inspire, motivate, and focus students, parents, colleagues, and partners.
