Lead Software Engineer

About the Role
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will work collaboratively with design, product, and engineering teams to address real-world challenges and develop creative solutions that enhance Kohls’ retail offerings.
What You’ll Do
Drive the development of high-quality, robust applications using extreme programming (XP) practices and a user-focused approach.
Engage in the complete application lifecycle, collaborating with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers.
Utilize critical thinking, experimentation, data, and industry best practices to achieve desired business outcomes.
Facilitate group discussions and team ceremonies, promoting shared understanding among team members.
Provide and welcome feedback that is empathetic, actionable, and specific.
Adopt emergent architecture with smart defaults, creating software that is user-friendly and easily modifiable.
Establish and champion product engineering and software standards across the team.
Innovate new product ideas from a user perspective, identifying problem spaces and generating a prioritized list of viable solutions for testing.
Stay current with technology market trends and practices through ongoing research.
Lead technical initiatives within the team and across the department.
Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Addendum
SENIOR BACKEND SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Proficient in Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Batch, Spring Security, and Redis.
Experience with build management tools such as Gradle or Maven.
Strong understanding of source control systems like GIT.
Background in database design and implementation in SQL or NoSQL databases.
Experience designing and implementing distributed caching technologies, specifically Redis.
Proven capabilities in driving requirements refinement, planning, estimating, developing, testing, and deployments.
What Skills You Have
Required
4+ years of software development experience.
Understanding of application design patterns, event-driven architecture, database schemas, and testing strategies.
In-depth knowledge of continuous integration, continuous deployment, and test-driven development.
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience with large-scale application troubleshooting and performance tuning.
Familiarity with major cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
Exposure to extreme programming (XP) practices.
