The Bridge Technical Manager II is responsible for the delivery of transportation related projects involving preliminary engineering and plans, specification, and estimate (PS&E) projects. The selected Bridge TM will perform technical oversight, staff development, contract management, technical and cost proposal development, project performance and client management for targeted statewide and regional clients.

The Bridge Technical Manager will have the opportunity to work with key staff in the region on marquee projects. You will openly share technical knowledge and mentor and supervise engineers in assignments such as preparing studies, reports and supporting documentation; quantities and construction cost estimates; and construction drawings needed for bridge, public works and transportation related projects. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience on new, widening, retrofit, and replacement bridge projects, flood control structures, and retaining wall projects with Caltrans and AASHTO LRFD design standards.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lead technical delivery of bridge and structural engineering tasks for transportation projects
  • Prepare and review design deliverables, including studies, construction drawings, calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentation
  • Develop and review project technical specifications
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and resources, monitoring progress and implementing adjustments as needed to meet deadlines and financial targets
  • Serve as primary technical liaison with clients, addressing project issues, leading meetings, and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff
  • Prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, and technical input for proposals and business development efforts
  • Provide quality control, quality assurance for bridge project of simple and complex nature
  • Occasional to moderate travel may be required
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Management, or similar degree
  • California P.E. is required
  • California S.E preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in bridge and transportation engineering, with experience managing bridge-related projects or tasks
  • Familiarity with California DOT (Caltrans) standards and procedures
  • Proficiency with bridge analysis and design software programs
  • Experience in using MicroStation and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to lead and interact with multi-disciplined teams
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $136,000-$213,000. This will depend on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
