We need CPAs to specialize in the state and local tax - SALT tax team.

Responsibilities
- Manages and delegates Specialty Tax research projects to achieve an accurate and efficient product.
- Participates actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Tax Department with larger clients.
- Acts as a Specialty Tax / State and Local Tax (SALT) resource for tax preparers/specialists and A&A staff on specific tax issues and/or questions.
- Assumes client service responsibility. Works directly with clients where the responsibility is delegated from the partner or manager.
- Communicates to the appropriate firm personnel important tax developments affecting the firm's clients.
- Delegates and manages tax audits and tax appeal matters; may represent the client before the appropriate taxing authorities for meetings such as hearings / appeals.
- Prepares written technical memorandum to the appropriate taxing authorities and written correspondence to clients. Has strong client interaction skills (verbal and written).
- Prepares other reports and projects as requested from time to time by the partners or manager.
- Participates in firm's practice development efforts through involvement with referral sources, community and industry activities.
- Responsible for the development and training of senior, semi-seniors and staff accountants.
- Must be familiar with the qualifications of all Tax staff members for the development and instruction of their training needs.
- At least three years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research.
- At least two (2) years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required, master's degree in taxation preferred.
- Minimum of forty hours of continuing education is required each year to maintain and develop technical and business skills.
- CPA or J.D. certification (or working towards certification).
- Demonstrated knowledge of current tax laws.
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, tax preparation, tax research, and tax planning software programs.
