We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Repayments Nexus team. This team is dedicated to enhancing the repayment experience for our customers by developing innovative tools and systems that enable convenient loan repayment options. You will be instrumental in shaping the international growth of our Repayments area, from the 'Manage' tab in our mobile app to Collections and Recoveries.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead your team in achieving quarterly goals, navigating ambiguity to solve complex problems while providing support throughout the delivery process.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Design, and Analytics teams, engaging in ideation sessions, articulating technical constraints, and making informed decisions together.
  • Proactively identify and advocate for solutions to project, process, technology, or business issues, leading efforts to resolve them.
  • Ensure the operation and availability of your team’s outputs by creating and monitoring metrics, addressing escalations, and participating in on-call duties.
  • Foster a culture of quality within your team by enhancing code review and design standards and promoting best practices across the organization.
  • Mentor and develop team talent by providing constructive feedback and leading by example.

What We Look For:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
  • Experience in building highly available distributed systems with technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in backend development and batch processing technologies including Airflow, Spark, Data Lake, and Snowflake.
  • A track record of defining technical plans for significant features or systems with elegant and extensible designs, producing high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Ability to implement significant changes to a large codebase while ensuring safety through robust tools and practices.
  • A proactive approach to personal growth, actively seeking feedback from peers, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base Pay Grade - N
Equity Grade - Poland 4

At Affirm, we provide a straightforward pay structure based on location, experience, and job-related skills. Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include monthly stipends for health, wellness, tech spending, and 100% subsidized medical coverage for you and your dependents. Eligible employees can also receive equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc.
