UC Riverside's Administrative Services and Strategic Executive Team (ASSET) is recruiting for a Director of Academic Personnel. The full salary range for the Director is $93,200 - $174,200 annually. The expected pay scale of this position is up to $140,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

The Director of Academic Personnel (AP) serves as the principal advisor and subject matter expert on all academic personnel matters and is a key member of the Administrative Services and Strategic Executive Team (ASSET). This position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial & Administrative Officer for ASSET, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education. The Director provides strategic leadership, policy interpretation, and operational oversight for a broad range of academic personnel functions within the units supported by ASSET. This includes appointments and reviews for Ladder Rank Faculty, Non-Senate Faculty (including Unit 18 Lecturers), Academic Student Employees (ASEs), and academic administrators. The role supports all academic personnel operations for the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE), which encompasses the Undergraduate Writing Program, Academic Resource Center, and University Honors. Additionally, the Director may support academic HR functions for academic administrators across ASSET-supported units. This position requires expert-level knowledge of academic policies, compensation structures, collective bargaining agreements, and academic recruitment processes. As the primary liaison among Undergraduate Education academic units, ASSET's human resources, workforce administration, and finance teams, and central academic personnel offices, the Director ensures policy compliance, consistency, and timely execution of academic HR actions. The Director leads academic personnel planning and service delivery, including recruitment, onboarding, staffing, compensation, academic reviews (for both Senate and non-Senate faculty), and ASE appointments. In collaboration with ASSET HR and DUE leadership, the Director also contributes to the development and implementation of internal guidelines, delivers training, and drives process improvement initiatives. In addition to academic HR responsibilities, and in collaboration with ASSET HR, this position may provide support for staff HR actions as needed. The Director plays a critical leadership role in aligning academic personnel practices with DUE's teaching and learning mission by providing proactive service, strategic guidance, and cross-functional collaboration in support of faculty and academic appointees.

Please be advised that applicants must submit a curriculum vitae/resume for full consideration. A cover letter is highly preferred.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
