General Maintenance Technician

General Summary:This position performs basic maintenance duties and assist maintenance technicians on more difficult or technical duties to maintain county facilities.Essential Duties:
Assist plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting, carpentry, and jail technicians as needed to perform general maintenance for all county buildings;
Change light bulbs, ceiling tiles, hanging pictures, plaques, and wall boards in county offices and buildings;
Confers with supervisor concerning construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair projects.
Other duties as assigned.

Education Required:High school graduation or its equivalent, plus at least one year of experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Preferred:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee must frequently bend, stoop, squat, lie down, and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighting up to 50 lbs., such as tools and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
