JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Director of Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance will be a strategic leader who responsible for defining and executing the organization's enterprise-wide data strategy. This leader will ensure that data is structured, governed, and leveraged as a strategic asset-enabling analytics, AI, regulatory compliance, and business value creation across all functions. This role provides strategic leadership and vision by driving the enterprise data strategy to enable business outcomes, digital transformation, AI adoption, and innovation, while partnering with business and technology leaders to align data initiatives with organizational priorities and value creation opportunities. The leader champions a data-driven culture by promoting literacy, accountability, and data ethics across the organization. In overseeing data governance and compliance, this individual leads the development and enforcement of a comprehensive governance framework encompassing policies, standards, and stewardship roles, ensuring adherence to privacy, regulatory, and security requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and SOX. They manage data access, risk mitigation, and audit readiness to maintain trust and compliance. Collaborating with IT and architecture teams, the role defines the enterprise data architecture, including data models, metadata, and master data management, guiding integration across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments while evaluating and implementing advanced data management tools and platforms. A key responsibility involves ensuring data quality and stewardship by defining metrics, overseeing remediation for critical data elements, and fostering stewardship programs that drive accountability and continuous improvement in data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. The leader also drives the creation of reusable, trusted data products and APIs to enable analytics, AI, and self-service use cases, partnering with analytics and AI teams to ensure data readiness for model development and decision intelligence while governing metadata, lineage, and documentation to ensure transparency and reusability. Additionally, the role establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics to measure the effectiveness of the data strategy, reporting progress and value delivered to executive stakeholders. Finally, as a cultural leader, this person builds and leads a cross-functional data governance council and steward community while developing enterprise-wide data literacy programs to elevate skills and foster a culture of responsible, data-driven decision-making.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Organizational Leadership: Provide inspirational leadership to the Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, promoting professional growth and collaboration. Establish a positive and inclusive work environment that values and encourages open communication.

  2. Governance. Develop and implement enterprise data governance standards, policies, and processes that will ensure that data solutions are identified, developed, and deployed in order to generate strategic business value while managing risks and complying with legal, ethical, and responsible data governance practices. Collaborate with business leaders, IT, and AI teams in the design and implementation of data governance policies and procedures. Supervise and set direction for the Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance team

that will facilitate and support activities of the AI Governance Committee in establishing responsible AI policies and procedures.

  1. Strategy and Direction. Lead and provide strategic direction to the Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance teams. Recruit, train, and retain top talent to generate consistent high performance for these teams. Oversee their activities, as described in more detail below, to ensure active collaboration, knowledge sharing, and accountability for results.

  2. Change within the Organization: In conjunction with other change management leaders and functions, identifying organizational changes resulting from digital transformation. Develop comprehensive change plans in collaboration with leaders, ensuring smooth transitions. This involves developing comprehensive change plans, facilitating the integration of new tools into existing business processes, reimagining roles and responsibilities, and providing unwavering support through communications, training, and coaching. Provide communications to senior management on the status of data strategy adoption throughout the enterprise.

  3. Organizational performance management. Oversee the monitoring and reporting of metrics and compliance with established data governance standards and policies. Oversee the development and implementation, including providing guidance and training to business, IT and delivery teams on the use of product development methodologies, templates, tools, and processes.

  4. Project team enablement. Develop collaborative frameworks with IT and AI product and platform teams in developing, implementing, and maintaining data governance standards, policies, and procedures to ensure the quality, accessibility, reliability, and security of enterprise data maintained in the enterprise cloud-based data platform ("Data Core")

  5. Education. Provide education and training to enterprise data governance standards, policies, and processes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, STEM, IT, Economics, Analytics, or related field Preferred Advance Degree in above fields or related field (Master's or Doctorate)

Minimum experience required of the position:

10+ years of experience in data strategy, data governance, or enterprise information management. Deep understanding of data management frameworks, governance tools, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

The ideal candidate will bring a track record of hands-on experience with governance, reflecting both technical proficiency and strategic leadership capabilities. · Experience in leading strategic or digital transformation initiatives. · Strong consulting skills with ability to influence leaders and stakeholders at all levels. · Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. · Strong understanding of AI, data analytics, machine learning, and process automation principles, tools, and techniques. · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. · Experience with tools and technologies related to governance, project management, agile development, process and product design, automation, business intelligence, and budgeting. · Adaptability and positive attitude towards change. · Experience in the energy and utility industry preferred
