Job Title: Field Service Technician

Position Description Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Service Manager, performs new equipment installations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repair of company equipment either in-house or at the customer site.

Facilitates timely resolutions to customer issues and/or questions while maintaining a positive client relationship. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global industry leader through a partnership with PrideStaff.
Work assignments are of the greatest variety and complexity. Supervision received is limited. Incumbents work independently or as a member of a team installing, servicing, or repairing equipment at a customer location.

Work includes instructing customer personnel in the correct operation of equipment and/or providing training and work direction for other technicians. Incumbents use both specialized and standard computer applications in the performance of their duties. Facilitates timely resolutions to customer issues and/or questions while maintaining a positive customer relationship.

  1. The role supports customers and the company's staff in servicing Belmont equipment.
  2. Traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all machine tool equipment and controls for customer organizations, as well as train or instruct customer personnel on correct operation of equipment.
  3. Using machine tool manuals, technical documents, internal and vendor resources to research machine issues.
  4. Modify, maintain or repair equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.
  5. Ensure proper documentation is completed accurately and submitted to office and customer regarding status of machine issues, repairs, and installation.
  6. Enter parts orders and service orders into the P21 system; use P21 system for order and parts maintenance.
  7. Promoting and performing preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment and conducting after-sales technical support and training.
  8. Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company.
  9. Maintains excellent customer service and customer satisfaction.
  10. Demonstrate applicable machine software capabilities to the customer.
  11. Prepares service reports and installation forms timely and accurately.
  12. Accurately track expenses and complete expense reports in a timely manner.
  13. Crate, uncrate, and secure machines for shipment to the customer; assist in loading and unloading machinery and parts from trucks.
  14. Assist in management of spare parts and inventory.
  15. Maintains a safe work environment and operates within OSHA/MIOSHA guidelines.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma; Associates Degree in a Technical discipline is preferred or comparable military experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar technical position.
  • At least one year in a customer service role.
Licensing/Certifications: Valid Michigan Driver's License with no more than two (2) points on a driving record within a three (3) year period. Able to obtain a forklift and crane license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must possess an extensive understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to optimally detect and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical components.
  • Proven customer service skills with a primary focus on customer relationships.
  • Above average electronics knowledge; A solid understanding of the principals of electronics. Able to identify electronic components and effectively utilize electric / electronic test / measurement equipment.
  • Ability to understand mechanical and electrical drawings and other technical documents for technical trouble shooting purposes.
  • Average to above average mechanical skills.
  • Critical thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Complex problem solving - identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding the next course of action to resolve the issue.
  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects.
  • Must be able to effectively understand, analyze and resolve technical mechanical or electrical issues based on measured data results.
  • Proficient in reading and comprehending technical information as presented in equipment manuals or in electronic media.
  • Ability to master machine software package(s) well enough to demonstrate its use to a customer.
  • Ability to accurately document technical data in terms of the steps taken to resolve equipment and product issues.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues as well as the steps taken to resolve those issues with the corporate office.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $62,400.00 - $83,200.00 Per Year
