Title: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
Location: Stillwater, OK
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Shift, 5x8.5-Hour (06:30 - 15:00)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms and ensure all equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and available.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures across multiple specialties including General Surgery, Orthopedic, Thoracic, Urology, ENT, GYN, Pulmonology, and Spine.
  • Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control standards.
  • Handle surgical specimens and ensure accurate labeling and documentation.
  • Support patient safety through Universal Protocol (Time Out) and effective communication with surgical team members.
  • Operate and maintain specialized surgical equipment such as DaVinci XI, ION, Stryker/Arthrex, and Storz video systems.
  • Assist with emergency management procedures and ensure compliance with fire, laser, and radiation safety standards.
  • Administer blood and blood products per protocol, and maintain awareness of wound management best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room experience (no first-time travelers).
  • Proficiency in Meditech charting system (required).
  • Experience with a variety of surgical procedures including:
    • Thoracic: Thoracotomy, Lobe and Lung resections
    • General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair, Thyroidectomy
    • Orthopedic: Arthroscopy, Open/Closed fracture reduction, Laminectomy/Discectomy, Spinal fusion, Total joint replacement
    • Urology: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy, Laparoscopic-assisted cases, TURP
  • Strong knowledge of infection control, specimen handling, and surgical instrumentation.
  • Ability to work with a variety of patient populations (Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric).
  • Flexibility to assist with extended shifts or call coverage if needed.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required
  • Active Oklahoma State License - required
